Queens Park Rangers against Liverpool

In truth the last 25 minutes of this game have been a non-event.

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Jamie Carragher is replacing Joe Allen for the last couple of minutes.

Gerrard played a short free-kick into Suso but it didn't run well for a shot.

Fabio, shaven head just like Rafael, pulls back Sterling - free-kick.

QPR have now had six shots on target to Liverpool's seven. That proves stats mean nothing without the context.

Mbia hits it through a gap but it's easy for Reina to claim.

Mbia is going to take it. The fans boo again.

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> Lucas is book for a trip of Taarabt a couple of yards outside the box.

Suarez is angry after failing to get a free-kick for a challenge from Hill.

Liverpool look to be preserving energy now for midweek.

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Fabio is on for SWP

Unbelievable, rather than putting it into the box it's played short to Granero, and his ball into the box it headed away. What a waste.

Taarat is brought down on the left flank, and this provides a chance. Free-kick.

Handball against Hill, free-kick to Liverpool 30 yards out but again the set-piece finds the gloves of the QPR goalkeeper.

Liverpool win two corners in quick succession, Julio Cesar jumps to claim the second

Sterling runs into the box and it's another great challenge from Onuoha to give away the corner.

Mackie puts the ball in the back of the next after the whistle had gone for offside, perhaps a bit of compassion from the ref not to book him.

Suarez almost gets a bit of space in the box but can't get the ball where he wants it and eventually loses out.

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Suso comes on for Jose Enrique. That means Stewart Downing will revert to left-back.

Jose Enrique has done his hamstring - he's pulled up and down.

Mbia has time and space for the shot on the edge of the area but puts his shot way wide. You have to at least hit the target when you have that much time to make a decision.

Shot from distance from Mbia, again straight at Reina.

The corner from the left is too deep and QPR clear.

Corner to Liverpool as SWP fails to guide the ball behind for a goal-kick and it clips the winger.

This is much better from QPR now.

Granero fails to make proper contact and a daisy-cutter goes harmlessly wide. The QPR fans boo because Taarabt didn't take it.

This free-kick is around 25 yards from goal. Taarabt will leave it to the new man Granero...

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> And Henderson, who was in the wall for the free-kick, is replaced by Lucas.

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Esteban Granero on for Diakite.

Handball against Agger, laying on the ground, as Taarabt tried to dance through. This is a good chance for QPR here.

Lucas will be coming on for Liverpool shortly.

Taarabt shoots straight at Reina from the edge of the box.

Traore fires a cross-shot across the face of goal, no team-mate there to apply a finish.

Oh my word. QPR take the corner deep to Wright-Phillips 25 yards (!) from goal - he cannot control it and Liverpool stroll away with the ball

Diakite's shot smacks into Agger and bounces behind for a corner to the home side.

Still no sign of QPR being able to get back into this game.

Mbia's is the 23rd yellow card for diving this season. There were only 20 in the whole of last season.

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> Mbia goes down very easily under the challenge of Johnson and gets booked for diving.

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2012/1230/luissuarezagainstqpr_275x155.jpg"><br>Luis Suarez is hunting a hat-trick.

Corner to Liverpool, it's taken short and low to the near post and no QPR player is alive to the danger - Henderson arrives put can't fire on target.

Onuoha gets to the ball at the back post ahead of Gerrard just as the Liverpool skipper was poised to add a fourth goal.

To any QPR fan out there, the only thing that has changed for you in the second half is that QPR are attacking the other end.

Gerrard takes from the left, Julio Cesar palms away from goal.

Ooooh! Suarez sees an effort from just inside the area pushed over by Julio Cesar. Corner.

Too much on the cross from Johnson, QPR get the goal kick.

Suarez takes the free-kick, it's headed away at the near post.

SWP (he's playing) fouls Enrique in the corner, free-kick.

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2012/1230/danielaggerscoresagainstqpr_275x155.jpg"><br>Dan Agger heads in Liverpool's third.

If QPR don't come out with a bit of fight they might Harry Redknapp might as well give up.

Liverpool kick-off.

Shaun Derry, a midfielder, is coming on for Djibril Cisse. Damage limitation?

Is there any way back for QPR? They need a miracle - Liverpool have been excellent, but haven't had to work for it.

The whistle goes for half-time and the QPR fans won't like what awaits them in the changing room from Harry Redknapp. A totally abject display.

QPR have been better in the last five minutes, but let's be honest they couldn't really be any worse.

One minute to be added on.

Another shot from distance by Taarabt which goes well wide of Reina's goal.

Clear dive from Cisse as he throws himself to the ground outside the box, no foul but no further action either.

Cisse tries to skip past Agger, the Dane does well and makes the tackle.

Harry Redknapp will surely make changes at the break. This cannot go on.

Gerrard fires over from 25 yards, always rising.

A shot for QPR! Taarabt spins his man and hits an effort from 30 yards - Reina plucks the ball out of the air when it looked like being a more testing effort.

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2012/1230/luissuarezscoresagainstqpr_275x155.jpg"><br>Luis Suarez opens the scoring.

QPR all at sea again. A loose ball runs for Gerrard who slams at goal from 12 yards - two deflections and it's cleared off the line and away before Suarez can pounce.

Sterling is allowed so much space to come into the box on the left but his control lets him down. There was no attempt to close the winger.

This QPR performance is one of the worst I have seen for some time.

Sterling feeds a pass into Suarez, another shot blocked.

Liverpool fans start the oles as they pass the ball around, after 34 minutes.

I've just glanced at the teamsheet and seen Shaun Wright-Phillips' name on there... Is he playing?

A corner is worked short, Henderson is allowed the freedom of Shepherd's Bush to shoot from the angle of the box - it's driven just wide.

This QPR performance is pathetic, Liverpool's pulsating.

Gerrard takes again, it's flicked away by a defender but QPR just cannot get it away. Suarez forces his way into the box but his shot is blocked.

Another corner for Liverpool, Taarabt blocking Johnson's cross.

So, Liverpool are 3-0 up without Brendan Rodgers?

A corner was played in from the right and there was Agger unmarked in the centre of the box to head home. Julio Cesar could probably have done better, pushing the ball into the side-netting of the goal.

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/goal.gif"> <b>GOAL</b> DAN AGGER 0-3

Henderson stretches out a leg and gets to the loose ball first but it goes a yard wide. So, so lucky for Julio Cesar.

The corner is worked by Liverpool from the right. A cross comes in which will be bread and butter for Julio Cesar. He's dropped the ball!

Ooooh! So close to a third for Liverpool as Glen Johnson skips through, mis-hits the shot and it's cleared off the line as Suarez waiting to pounce at the back post.

Downing's shot from distance is blocked by the bum of Hill.

Suarez boots a wayward shot into the night sky from the angle.

Just seen a replay of the Taarabt free-kick - Henderson definitely blocked it with his hand and QPR are very unlucky not to have a route back into the game from the penalty spot.

It comes back into the box and Mbia tries an acrobatic finish over his shoulder from close range - way over.

We finally see something of Taarabt, and his free-kick doesn't even get over the wall.

Now Mbia does get the free-kick for a trip, and this is dangerous 27 yards from goal.

Mbia goes down holding his face after being caught by a stray arm of Gerrard as he gave chase. Nothing sinister in it though.

The tempo of Liverpool's play and the intelligence of the movement is just too much for the Premier League's bottom club.

I fear for QPR today. It's going to be half an hour before Harry Redknapp can get them in and give them a rocket.

This is woeful from QPR. Hill is beaten in the air by Suarez, who then latches back onto the ball and tries to find Sterling across the face of goal. The cross is blocked but it runs back to Suarez who can tap into an empty goal.

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/goal.gif"> <b>GOAL</b> LUIS SUAREZ 0-2

Suarez goes down holding his head wanting a foul 25 yards out - QPR fans boo as though he's not really been caught by the defender.

Now Liverpool have a spring in their step - can they go on to a convincing win like they did against Fulham two games ago?

Now there's work to do for Harry Redknapp - QPR, with their plight, had to have this down as one to win.

Clint Hill is made to look a clown by Suarez, the striker gliding past Hill into the box and slotting into the corner past Julio Cesar.

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/goal.gif"> <b>GOAL</b> LUIS SUAREZ

QPR seem to have settled a little now.

QPR ask for a foul for handball against Gerrard just outside the area - it was never deliberate.

Mackie is close to getting onto a through ball into the box, but he was offside anyway.

Ominous signs in the opening moments, but remember Liverpool scored first and early at Stoke on Wednesday.

Suarez blasts an effort from the edge of the box when allowed too much space - Julio Cesar beats away the shot and Joe Allen mis-kicks the follow up.

Liverpool looking the more eager in the opening exchanges.

And it's QPR who kick-off.

QPR really need to start winning home games if they are to have any chance of staying up.

Commentary coming up shortly. Meanwhile you can follow me on Twitter <a href="http://www.twitter.com/dalejohnsonESPN" target="_blank">@dalejohnsonESPN</a>

Liverpool make three changes as Joe Allen, Jordan Henderson and former Rs youth team player Raheem Sterling are brought into the starting line-up.

As far as the teams go, QPR manager Harry Redknapp recalls goalkeeper Julio Cesar, meaning Robert Green drops out of the side after five successive starts. Nedum Onuoha, Ryan Nelsen and Samba Diakite are also brought in after the 2-1 Boxing Day defeat to West Brom.

So the big news is that Brendan Rodgers, along with reserve goalkeeper Brad Jones, both picked up a bug and have not travelled to the match. Reds' assistant manager Colin Pascoe and first-team coach Mike Marsh will deputise.

Brendan Rodgers is under no illusions about the need to do better and <a href="http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1280810/brendan-rodgers-warns-underperforming-liverpool-stars?cc=5739" target="_blank">has issued a warning to his underperforming stars</a>.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have struggled to find any consistency this season, and their 4-0 thrashing of Fulham was sandwiched by 3-1 defeats to Aston Villa and Stoke. While they may accept the top four is out of reach this season, the owners will no doubt want to see signs of progress.

Signings are to be expected in January, but Harry Redknapp will know that - with Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester City to play next month - they must look to topple some of the big boys.

QPR, despite ending their wait for a first league victory of the season when they beat Fulham before Christmas, are eight points away from safety and have lost their last two.

Liverpool take on Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road in a match both teams will be desperate to win.
