At the other end Michael Dawson nods over the bar from Tottenham's first corner.
Gomes is the first prompted into a save as Jo got into the area; he was going away from goal and Corluka was racing towards it. The defender got a tackle in but diverted the ball towards goal and a diving stop was required by Spurs' keeper.
We're off...
Lucas Neill slots in at centre half for the Toffees alongside Yobo, but Peter Crouch will look to pull onto full-backs Hibbert and Baines to maximise his aerial threat. They will have their work cut out with Aaron Lennon and Niko Kranjcar on the wings too.
