Ooh - so close there from Deco who looked as if he would bury the ball as it broke to him through a morass of players. His effort is wide of the mark once more which is in keeping with Portual's shambolic finishing this evening.
- 75'
Poulsen this time gets back to head to his keeper.
- 74'
Christensen is putting in some sterling defensive work for the Danes now and he gets a firm header to a dangerous cross to clear.
- 74'
Ronaldo breaches the wall this time but also the goal as another opportunity drifts away from his side.
- 73'
Christensen tangles with ROnadlo and looks to have come away with the ball but the referee disagrees and it is another free-kick in a dangerous spot.
- 70'
There was what looked like a firm push on the back of Liedson by Christensen but the protests from the Portuguese player are muted. Definite push though.
- 69'
Duda's cross is headed out by Norregaard before Poulsen puts out for a throw-in. Nani then appears to take the place of Simao.
- 67'
Boos are ringing round each time Portugal touch the ball and the visitors have lost the momentum they were building prior to Bendtner's goal. They have the look of a side flailing at the moment and it is hard to see where they will find the goals neccessary to win this game now.
- 66'
Silberbauer's injury would appear to be a result of his vital interception to deny Liedson and if the score is to remain the same the Danes will have him to thank for the points.
- 63'
Ronaldo is penalised for a handball after a miss that looked as if it would end in a goal for the Portuguese. Meanwhile the goal-line hero for Denmark Silberbauer limps off grimacing from an injury and he will be replaced by Kvist.
- 62'
Marvellous defending from Silberbauer to stop a certain gaol from Liedson after some careless handling from Andersen. The makeshift left-back saved the Danes bacon there.
- 61'
Eduardo comes to comfortably claim a Danish free-kick but the speed of his distribution catches his forwards by surprise and nobody is able to pick up his clearance.
- 59'
Luckily for Kjaer Ronaldo's free-kick will not be appearing in any headlines as it bounces against the Danish wall.
- 58'
Kjaer has fulfilled one of his aims tonight and fouled Ronaldo although the subsequent yellow card was perhaps not in his carefully thought out and loudly proclaimed pre-match modus operandi.
- 57'
Ole's are ringing round the stadium here already as Denmark spray the ball around confidently - bit early for such nonchalance from the crowd but they seem to sense their side have control of things here.
- 56'
Rommedahl hits an effort that was so close I thought it was in. It only brushed against the sidenetting but it was fractionally close to being goodnight Vienna in Copenhagen for the Portuguese.
- 56'
Poor pass from Deco and Portugal's composure seems to be wilting under the pressure here- meanwhile Sweden have gone in to the lead against Hungary.
- 55'
Bendtner puts down Pepe and concedes a free-kick with what is best described as a forwards's tackle.
- 53'
The free-kick comes in but despite hitting Silberbauer a goal-kick is the end, and wrong, result. Denmark are getting all the decisions so far this evening.
- 52'
Poulsen curls a cross in which is dealt with but Portugal remain pegged back until Simao advances across the halfway line. The ever-forward thinking Pepe then earns a free-kick under a challege from Tomasson.
- 51'
Kjaer heads a high ball back across the Portuguese six-yard box but it is scrambled away. This time it is the Portuguese who are being put under a fair bit of pressure as the Danes look to put this game to bed.
- 49'
Deco finds Ronaldo with a threaded pass but he is inches offside.
- 48'
Jacobsen floats in a teasing ball which Bosingwa puts behind via some unconventional defending but Denmark are unable to threaten Eduardo from the corner.
- 47'
Nice turn from Bendtner but the whistle had blow for a goul on Poulsen from Liedson who earns a yellow card three minutes into his appearance this evening.
- 46'
Denmark immediately spring an attack but some poor control from Rommedahl in a promising position puts paid to their intentions.
- 45'
The Brazilian-born Liedson is on for the second half which is now underway. Can he throw those jibes back at the Danes?
- 45'
HALF-TIME: Portugal have shown the sort of attacking intent you would expect from such a talented side in need of a win but they find themselves trailing to a wonderful piece of opportunism from Nicklas Bendtner. The second half should be interesting indeed....
- 43'
No sane viewer of this match can argue that that is an unexpected twist of events that is harsh on the Portuguese who have marauded and threatened on numerous occasions. They go close once more with Simao who breaks through the middle of the Danish defence before hitting his shot over.
- 41'
1-0 to the Danes as Bendtner belts home a great goal after chesting down Silberbauer's cross. It's a great piece of instinctive striker play from the Arsenal man that heaps the pressure on the Portuguese now. That's his third goal against Portugal. How will they react?
- 41'
GOAL TO DENMARK
- 40'
Oooh, Christensen breathes an audible sigh of relief as his handball is punished with nothing more than a corner from which Simao belts a shot over. The Danish defender is a lucky boy.
- 39'
Tiago skips through the Danish defence but the Danish defenders do their job well and the ball breaks up the park to Poulsen - it's a poor final shot though which sails wide of goal once more.
- 36'
Silberbauer goes to ground under a challenge that looked like a foul but play is waved on. Denmark will be hoping the next ten minutes fly by without too much more incident at their end of the pitch.
- 35'
Deco then comes inside and goes to ground causing palpitations amongst the home crowd but the result is another corner which again brings a save from Andersen. He is the busiest man on the pitch at the minute.
- 34'
Free-kick to Portual and Duda and Decon play it short with Duda then curling a great effort towards goal that is punched behind for a corner.
- 32'
Silberbauer sizes up a pass that from this angle looked to be madness due to a total lack of red-shirted players congregated in that area - the ball is indeed hit straight out of play.
- 31'
Ronaldo looked to have back-heeled the ball to nobody but he is not watching events through a television and had spied Deco behind him whose snap-shot is saved by Andersen again.
- 30'
Denmark sweep up the park but Jacobsen is judged to have been climbing all over Pepe and a free-kick is awarded to the home side.
- 29'
Simao seeks a way throgh the Danish defence but Ronaldo takes over and immediately curls one goalwards that is just over the bar.
- 28'
Tomasson tries to thread it through to Jorgensen but the Danish skipper's return pass is just over-hit.
- 27'
Silberbauer steps up to put an end to a Portugal attack and the Danish man has put in some important challenges so far.
- 26'
Ronaldo looked to be on his way there but he was fractionally offside despite the protesting wagging finger he waves at the linesman.
- 24'
Wonderful guile from Simao to ghost past a couple of challenges and the ball makes its way out to Bosingwa as Portugal continue to press - it comes to Duda whose long crossfield pass is disappointing after some patient build-up play.
- 23'
Bruno Alves finds himself in space on the far side of the penalty area as the corner is played in but his effort dribbles back to Andersen.
- 22'
Corner to Portugal who are turning the screw now.
- 20'
Andersen has to look much more alert this time as Simao gets between the Danish central defence and brings a wonderful save from the stand-in keeper who leaps low to his right to keep out the shot.
- 20'
It's on target but bounces before Andersen steadies himself to calmly collect it.
- 19'
Portugal have enjoyed a prolonged spell of possessiion which ends with Bosingwa attempting to win a free-kick on the edge of the Danish penalty-area, an attempt that is unsuccesful. Ronaldo has more luck seconds later when he is brought down and it is within his range...
- 17'
Poor distribution from Silberbauer gifts possession to Portugal but he redeems himself by tearing back to win retrieve the ball.
- 15'
Simao curls a shot that is not too far wide of the Denmark far post - a goal is in the offing here or I'm not sat typing this.
- 15'
Poulsen feeds Bendter out wide and when the ball is played in Jorgensen finds himself six yards from goal with an acute angle to aim for which he is unable to narrow with his shot which is well over in the end.
- 13'
Corner to Denmark and Bruno Alves gets a commanding head to the ball to clear for Portugal.
- 12'
Wasteful shot from Lars Jacobsen who blasts over when he would have been better seeking out a team-mate with a cross - in my opinion.
- 10'
Fantastic tackle from Pepe on Poulsen at the edge of the Portugal penalty area and it starts a Portugal attack that ends with Andersen keeping out a Ronaldo shot with his legs. A quick-fire counter that almost ends in a goal for Portugal.
- 9'
Duda's cross is mis-read by Kjaer and Andersen will be grateful the bounce from his defender's flailing leg fell favourably for him to collect.
- 8'
Dennis Rommedahl is judged to be offside there but it looked a marginal call - either a great spot by the linesman or a terrible decision.
- 7'
Fantastic cut inside from Ronaldo after he tears down the wing past Kjaer but his shot is poor and rises well wide of the target.
- 6'
Duda wins a throw deep in Denmark's half as Portugal begin to exert a bit of pressure on their hosts. It comes to the square sum of nothing though as the Danes win it back and the ball eventually goes behind for a goal-kick.
- 5'
Deco is brought down after showing Poulsen a clean pair of heels. Nice skill from the Chelsea man.
- 4'
A foul this time from Bendtner signals the end of this particular period of Danish pressure after the corner is taken.
- 3'
Great ball in from Jars Lacobsen but it's too far ahead of Martin Jorgensen for the number 10 to get his head to it. It's a corner to Denmark.
- 2'
The Danish defence allowed Simao's ball to drift through to Raul Meireles at the near post but he is unable to direct his toe poke on target.
- 1'
A terrible pass from the Arsenal man this time as Denmark advaned in a threatening position.
Denmark on the attack straight away and it has taken Bendtner just ten seconds to incur a blast of the referee's whistle with a handball.
A quick exchange of views between Ronaldo and Deco - something along the lines of 'let's win mate' no doubt - and we're off.
Thomas Sorensen misses out through suspension and Stephan Andersen will take his place in goal, Portugal start with Liedson on the bench and Ronaldo will start in a more central role for the visitors who will have Simao and Deco worrying the Danish defence.
National anthems are being aired at the Parken Stadion and Tomasson and Nicklas Bendtner will carry the goal-scoring hopes of the home crowd up front who will look to carry on their impressive home form.
Jon Dahl Tomasson continued the Danish charm offensive by declaring that Portugal had 'bought a striker in Brazil' when they naturalised Sporting Lisbon striker Liedson. Welcome to Copenhagen - it should be damned interesting.
Portugal will, of course, be looking to World Player of the Year to inspire them but Danish defender Simon Kajer has other reasons for seeking the Real Madrid player out. Kajer has proudly declared his intention to 'whack' Ronaldo, presumably in the non-Sopranos style, and that he and his team-mates need to 'foul him a few times'. Delightful.
Four goals in the last five minutes saw a wildly shifting scoreline end in Denmark's favour last time round - your commentator is hopeful there is not a repeat late avalanche of strikes this evening.
The two goals the Danes conceded in that game represent the only occasions their defence has been breached in this qualifying campaign although with Martin Laursen now retired and Daniel Agger injured Portugal will fancy their chances of securing goals tonight.
It's a tough assignment for Carlos Queiroz's men who were beaten 3-2 by the Danes on their home patch the last time the two sides met in an astonishing match. They will attempt to breach that seven point gap this evening without Werder Bremen striker Hugo Almeida who misses out with a foot injury.
A World Cup minus the glistening features of Cristiano Ronaldo will become a distinct possibility if Portugal are beaten in Copenhagen this evening. Denmark straddle the top of Group One having amassed 16 points so far, three points ahead of surprise package Hungary with Portugal trailing the Danes by a seven points. A win is vital for The Seleccao.
