Good cross from Magnin, and Cech flaps it away! A corner comes in but well out.
Kobi Kuhn is gesturing all his players forward. It's all or nothing.
Nearing the last minute. And the Swiss can consider themselves very unlucky at this stage. The header from Derdiyok sums up their efforts, high and wide.
Shocking kick from Magnin and Streller can't get on the end of the ball in again. He's looked very poor.
Magnin takes one in the back. He's played well, but it could be in a losing cause.
Benaglio doesn't clear properly and it's all getting broken up. Not what the Swiss want at this stage, they can't get hold of it for long enough.
Jarolim, who has played well, comes off and Kovac enters the fray.
Yakin is blown up for the foul. The Czechs are doing well to break up the play.
Svercos goes in for the cross, but Vonlanthen is there. Now Switzerland pour forward again.
Czechs have a free-kick. But there are only three players up for them. Grygera keeps hold of it, but with five mins left they're going into the corners.
Inler fires in a shot from the short corner. Why didn't he play it into the box? Terrible decision. It was pretty close, but that's not a good decision.
How Streller is still on the pitch I can't tell you, although he'll probably score now..
Derdiyok, a very talented young player, is coming on for the Swiss, while Sionko is coming off for Vlcek.
It's all about the Swiss! No effort being made by the Czechs, other than to keep hold of their lead. Even when they win it back, it's still just Svercos up front.
Barnetta gets space, but the shot gets away from him. He just lacked the control there.
The Swiss have showen themselves more than capable of making it 1-1. But so far, they're not getting the luck.
Oh that was close. Great save from Cech. Vonlanthen was only 5 yards out and smashed his shot against the bar. Poor miss, but an escape for the Czechs.
Massive appeal for a penalty. Not given, but then a shot is smashed in from Barnetta, saved by Cech. Vonlanthen hits the rebound, against the bar!!
A few boos ring out when the ball is played backwards. The Swiss are playing it around, but they're getting impatient.
Barnetta cuts inside, but is blocked out of it. At the other end Senderos shows his dodgy streak by nearly playing in Svercos.
The Swiss have more width, but the Czechs are defending their lead.
The crowd have died down a bit, after being on top for such a lot of this half, that goal is a killer blow. The Czechs now look like they might pinch another one on the break.
Behrami will play right back, giving them a bit more of an attacking edge. Vonlanthen is booked after about 10 seconds.
Svercos made a good run, but Senderos cut the ball out. He's made a good impression since coming on. The Swiss are bringing on Vonlanthen and it's the right-back Lichtsteiner going off.
Senderos thinks he's a striker all of a sudden, but maybe he should have been paying a bit more attention to his striker, rather than the ball.
Am I going to take back my Koller comment after his replacement scored? I think not. The Swiss still have time to ruin the party for the Czechs.
The Swiss didn't concede a goal in the 2006 World Cup, so that's that record scuppered for this tournament.
First shot on target and the Czechs pinch a goal!
GOAL! Svercos is there. He was onside, and races through after the defence failed to track back. The Czech are 1-0 up and the striker gets his first international goal.
Gelson gives it away. Sionko is at the heart of things again for the Czechs. Plasil tries his best, and nearly gets through.
The Czechs are defending in numbers. They seem pretty happy just to keep a clean sheet.
Benaglio comes out to claim the corner, he was very commanding there.
Frei is back on the bench, hobbling along on crutches.
Barnetta should have had a free-kick and now Sionko threatens. He does well to win a corner, and has looked the best of a bad bunch.
The Swiss meanwhile, look very capable of getting the first! Pushing forward, they look confident! Oh and Yakin is free from six yards out. Great cross and the little man is on the penalty spot! He missed by a few yards, but that was a sitter!
I've been really disappointed with the Czech attack. Something needs to change if they want a goal.
Plasil turns well but his shot is blocked. He gets it back and Barnetta slides in from behind. Foul outside the box. But again, Jankulovski is unable to capitalise.
Chance for Barnetta! Decent ball in and the youngster runs across the box to volley over the bar. Good technique, but not quite enough to keep it down.
Yakin is boosting the crowd up. Senderos is up there again, but the ball in is dreadful! So many times, the Swiss haven't put the right ball in.
First decent ball in and Koller in sat out. They may live to regret that decision.
Jankulovski swings in the free-kick. Great cross, and a shocking effort from Sionko. He was put off by Senderos, but it was free header really. Where was Koller? Oh yes, on the bench!
Magnin is booked. He was warned. Sionko was wide on the right, but that's the first yellow of Euro 2008.
I'm wondering what the Czech gameplan is now. No Koller, so it must be a passing game.
Plasil races onto a ball but Lichtsteiner tracks back well to get there first. Polak is held up by Magnin, who has been very good in defence.
Really odd, but the Czechs haven't done anything up front. They needed someone alongside Koller though, not to replace him!
Sverkos comes on, for Koller!!! What is that about??
Switzerland really deserve a goal. The Czechs are under a lot of pressure, and if Frei was still on they may have scored.
Inler does well, but his shot is blocked. The Swiss pour forward and Streller has a chance, blocked, then Yakin can bring it down but before he can shoot it's cleared.
Gelson is getting through a lot of work in midfield for the Swiss. As a result, the Czechs attacking options have really been reduced.
Three man wall, with Sionko involved. But it's harmless. What a poor ball in. Benaglio is able to gather it easily.
Now the Czechs have a chance from a set piece and Jankulovski is the man standing over it.
Yakin delays the ball, if he'd been a tad quicker it would have been a good chance. Gelson is there but was caught offside.
The Czechs mop up possession, good play from Polak. But they have not threatened anything up front at all. A formation change is needed.
Wow, that was close. He's looked good since coming on and got the ball to dip, just not quite enough.
Really good chance here. A good distance and lots of options. There's three around it and Yakin fancies it.
Yakin goes down on the edge of the box.
Inler finds Barnetta, who lays it off to Magnin. The Swiss are on the charge, well played by the co-hosts. They force the Czechs back and win a corner. Magnin picks up the corner and smashes a shot in, Cech fumbles it but gathers again.
Behrami, who disappeared slightly after a promising start, is fouled. Senderos is up there and it's a pretty decent ball. Cech is tested and comes to gather. Commanding from the Chelsea man.
Rozehnal is caught up field, but the Swiss fail to break and he's allowed to catch up again.
Shame, I was looking forward to seeing Derdiyok in action, but they've gone for experience over youth. I'd have taken Streller off as well!
Senderos storms forward, but unsurprisingly doesn't make inroads into the defence.
Second half starts! Hakin Yakin in instead of Derdiyok for the injured Frei.
The Czech's haven't had a shot on goal all half! Koller threatens but this is not good enough from their point of view. The Swiss will be hurt by Frei's loss, but they've looked the better side.
Sionko tries to knock Senderos off the ball, but that's the last action of the first half. 0-0, but the big news is the loss of Frei for the co-hosts.
The ten man Swiss are chasing the ball, they could do with the whistle now! Frei is crying buckets on the touchline, what a sad sight.
Big blow for the Swiss. That could be Frei's tournament over and Streller has done nothing all game.
The young Derdiyok will get a chance, Frei goes straight off.
Ouch. Frei looks like he's going off. He's able to walk, but he doesn't look happy. That could be a bad knee injury.
Barnetta breaks and can't find Frei. That sums up the Swiss attacks so far. Good in midfield, but lacking anything in the final third. Frei is down hurt, he looks in a bad way.
And they do. But Jankulovski gets just too much on it and Benaglia picks it up.
The Czechs have to put in the air here..
Koller just caught by Magnin, who is furious. He must be close to a yellow card too.
Sionko is down the middle. Great touch on from the little lad, he links well with Plasil and gets it back again! Just at the cruicial moment though, the ball gets stuck under his feet and it's picked up by Benaglia.
Good reverse ball there from Jarolim. Magnin is there first against Sionko though.
Cech took no chances there. He beat it away with his fists and was lucky the Swiss were unable to finish.
Great strike from Frei. The Swiss broke quickly, and he has a shot from 30 yards. Cech beats it away, and it falls in Barnetta, offside!
Oh the best chance by far for the Czechs. Good passing from the midfield and Inler gets it across. Koller is in acres of space, but he is off the pace. And the ball doesn't reach him.
Top cross from Jankulovski, but it doesn't come to anything. Too long, although there was only Koller up there to get on the end of it.
One more foul for Gelson and he'll be going in the book.
Streller wastes the ball against with an aimless punt blocked by Rozehnal.
Muller is calmness personified up the other end to knock the ball back to Benaglio. Sionko uses his shoulder against Gelson and is blown up for a foul, that really was not a good decision.
Polak has gone down in a heap after Gelson went in. They both stretched, but the Czech looks hurt. Might have hurt his metatarsal there, the replay looked sore.
Good play in the midfield again by the Swiss, but Streller and Frei have offered very little.
Plasil finds Koller, who chests it down just behind the defence. The whistle goes though and the big man has to go back for offside.
For some reason the Czechs are playing a 4-5-1 with all their men behind the ball. They're stopping the Swiss play, but don't have enough up front when they break.
Magnin takes one in the face, the foot was high but he seems to be ok.
Koller looks so isolated and there's no-one helping him out. Senderos and Muller are combining well and they have no pace to worry about.
Jarolim tries to find Koller again, but they're really missing something up front. Magnin goes in well on Sionko after he proved to be a slippery customer.
Lichtsteiner wastes possession after getting away with a foul! He really should have done better with that one, but Ujfalusi clears easily.
Swiss defence gives it away and Sionko, who has probably been the most dangerous player for Czech Rep so far, nearly sends Koller through.
Cech shows some skills and fakes the ball from Frei before hoofing it up the pitch. Far too long, even for the giant Koller.
Halfway through the half now and both sides have had good chances to get the first goal of Euro 2008.
Koller is the man through whom everything for the Czechs is going at the moment. Senderos nearly presents him with the ball in the box, but Koller is too slow to pick up on it and it's cleared.
Great save from Cech. The long ball catches our the Czech defence and Frei races onto it. Cech is out well to block the shot!
Grygera overlaps and hits the ball high into the box. Koller is there by so is Benaglila. Well claimed.
Brilliant ball from Frei and the Czech defence opens up. Inler takes advantage and bursts through the middle. His shot is tame though and Cech holds it well.
Neither side have really impressed, although Behrami looks sharp. They're still sizing each other up.
Grygera wastes the ball, then it's won back. Streller loses out again though and doesn't look like he's comfortable on the ball.
Frei can't get on the end of a good ball from Lichtsteiner. He should probably leave the running up to Streller, and concentrate on getting in the box.
Behrami does well again, he looks a good player. Shaking off the challenge he swings his foot behind the shot and Cech holds on. People have criticised the ball, but it flew pretty straight there.
Koller gets his head on it, but he has no second striker. Plasil attempts to get near it, but well marshalled out by Muller.
Both coaches are out there now, shouting instructions, but both have reason to be happy.
Cracking backheel sends Jarolim free down the left, his cross/shot is turned away by Benaglio in the Swiss goal. First shot on target?
Jarolim turns really well on the edge of the box, but his shot is blocked by Senderos.
Magnin goes in with Sionko. Studs up, and a foul is given. Nothing more though.
Sionko rushes forward, but nothing comes of it. Behrami shows some great skills down the left for Switzerland, and curls the ball in, headed away Ujfalusi.
Plasil surges forward but Muller comes in with the tackle. Flag is up aganist Sionko anyway.
Behrami is caught by Jankulovski. The crowd boo because they want a yellow, but it wasn't worth it.
Magnin up the end does well to get all the way back against Sionko. Corner given and Koller is looking dangerous. The Czechs waste it though, putting it along the ground!
Barnetta does better on the right and smashes a ball across the box. Wll done Plasil who was back defending, to head the ball clear.
Magnin swings in a free-kick, but can't beat the first man and Galasek clears. Really poor stuff there from the free-kick.
Great ball from Behrami, he finds Frei who can't quite slip Streller through. Looked quite clumsy up front and he was in a one-on-one against the last defender.
Magnin gives Streller something to chase, but Cech is off his line quickly. They'll have to do well to beat the Chelsea stopper today.
Switzerland knocking it around nicely and trying to keep the Czechs off the ball. They're doing well, but haven't actually gone anywhere.
Good chance there, against the run of play but there's a good tempo to the game. Pretty fast already and both sides have seen an opening.
Frei breaks up a Czech attack and runs at the defence. Great chance, he's taken a shot and it spins wide of Petr Cech's goal.
Pretty direct start from the Czechs. 6'7'' Koller is going to get a lot of long balls hit up to him.
Jan Koller is the man up front and Jankulovski sends the ball up there already. Worrying start for the Swiss and Gelson tried to clear.
Kick off! Summer can now begin!
The first game of Euro 2008 can now begin, the Czechs are favourite, but don't underestimate the Swiss. Home support could be key!
Great national anthem for the Czechs, the spirit of Pavarotti lives on. Now the Swiss' turn and there'll be a big sing song now.
We're so nearly over and ready for some football! At least the fans look happy, I guess they're just happy to be there. The teams head out onto the pitch to a deafening roar. Here we go, Euro 2008 can finally begin!
Finally we have some flags being paraded out onto the pitch. Shots of the UEFA bigshots in the crowd, all looking a tad bored at the moment.
I'd love to keep you all updated on the current events inside the stadium, it's just too weird to describe. Lots of strange people dressed in red pretending to be a clock...
Still a good 15mins before everything gets going, and it's fair to say I could do with watching some football instead of what's currently going on.
Milkmaids on stilts. Lots of circus performers with bug cubes. A girl handing out snow... It really is all a bit odd.
The opening ceremony has begun, and we're currently being treated to a load of fake cows walking around. They're really milking it now...
For the Swiss, no first choice keeper - he's on the bench. Benaglio starts. No Djourou or Degen either, so here it is: Benaglio, Lichtsteiner, Muller, Senderos, Magnin, Behrami, Inler, Gelson, Barnetta, Frei, Streller. Subs: Zuberbuhler, Jakupovic, Djourou, Huggel, Cabanas, Yakin, Derdiyok, Grichting, Gygax, Spycher, Vonlanthen, Degen.
Slight surprise from the Czechs with no Baros in the starting lineup. Here it is in full: Cech, Jankulovski, Rozehnal, Ujfalusi, Grygera, Plasil, Polak, Galasek, Jarolim, Sionko, Koller. Subs: Blazek, Zitka, Kovac, Fenin, Sverkos, Vlcek, Pospech, Kadlec, Baros, Matejovsky, Sivok, Skacel.
No Rosicky for the Czech Rep, he'll be a big miss! The Swiss have Barnetta and Muellar fit, so that's a boost for them. Team news should be in shortly.
Hi everyone, it's what you've been waiting for.. finally the Euro 2008 tournament begins! And first up, we have co-hosts Switzerland looking to cause an upset against the fancied Czechs.
Join us at 1700 BST, for the first live game from this year's Euro 2008: The co-hosts Switzerland against the Czech Republic.
