- 84'
Caldwell's passing: stinks the place out.
- 83'
Save! Dzeko bangs one and it nicks off a defender. Al-Habsi is forced to readjust and tip over in style.
- 82'
<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Onuoha is on for City, replacing Silva. Booo to that decision.
- 81'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> Booking for Zabaleta, who was forced to foul following a shocking first touch from De Jong.
- 79'
Corner for City, who smell a decisive second.
- 78'
They opt against my suggestion, and instead do little passes.
- 77'
Barry goes down rather softly, but the ref buys it. Chance for City to deliver into the box.
- 76'
Pffft, it's cleared.
- 75'
Corner to Wigan, Hart needlessly tipping a shot wide.
- 74'
Patronising comment: fair play to plucky Wigan.
- 73'
<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Nasri, who has been massively tame, is replaced by De Jong.
- 72'
Barry is holding his face. I missed it, in truth. On no, a replay. Seemed to get a clobber in the gob. He is up.
- 72'
Are City wobbling here? Maybe.
- 71'
Some impressive battling from Wigan out there, in fairness.
- 70'
A chance for Wigan! A genuine chance! Milner was sloppy and Rodallega slipped a pass to McCarthy, who shot across goal left footed. Hart hung out a leg and saved well.
- 69'
Free-kick to Wigan. Rodallega's hair is a bit rubbish. There statements aren't related.
- 68'
<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Di Santo and Watson are on for Wigan, with McArthur and Crusat the men replaced.
- 67'
City enjoying more of the ball now. They want that second that would kill the game off. That said, Wigan don't really look capable of levelling.
- 66'
Wigan about to make a double change.
- 65'
Moses is an unhappy bunny after being penalised for what seemed just a tussle for the ball with Savic.
- 64'
Caldwell launches one forward. It went to no-one. Not a person. Sighs all around.
- 63'
How did that not go in? Clichy sends in a lovely cross and it gets three (THREE!) deflections before bobbling just wide of the far psot.
- 62'
<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> Booking for McAruther, the first of the night.
- 61'
It's not pretty at the moment. Numerous loose passes.
- 60'
Aguero flagged offside. In other news, Wigan have 'hit the channels' a lot tonight. It hasn't worked.
- 59'
Silva chips in a free-kick but this time Wigan rise to nod clear.
- 58'
Nasri is down. Looks a painful one. Studs on the toes.
- 57'
Lescott has been very good tonight, in particular with youngster Savic alongside him.
- 56'
...Aguero! You silly sausage. He speeds clear in on goal, then wriggles like no other. He should shoot, but opts to keep cutting in before, finally, he digs out a tame shot that is saved with ease. It would have been a memorable goal but instead was a mess.
- 55'
Wicked double save! Al-Habsi is the man. Initially, Dzeko digs out a shot that forces a splendid stretch from the goalkeeper before another stab is smothered. But wait...
- 54'
Rush of blood from Savic as he scampers forward, but he gets a nosebleed and quickly passes backwards and slumps back into position.
- 53'
Moses and Rodallega have been caught offside far too many times.
- 52'
Barry, who has been poor, loses the ball and Wigan trot forward. McArthur wastes it though with a pea-roller.
- 51'
Needless to say the corner was utter rubbish from Wigan. City back in possession.
- 50'
The linesman's flag is broken! Oh what fun! HA!
- 49'
Corner to Wigan following a wayward pass from Clichy.
- 48'
Wigan are pressing higher, which is a positive, but a risky game of course.
- 47'
"Handball!" Wigan cry. Atkinson waves away the claims. Moses had blasted the ball against an opponent, who had no time to react.
- 46'
<b>Kick-off:</b> Wigan get the second period under way.
I'd like to see Nasri demonstrate some swagger, of the Silva ilk. We know he is capable, but he has been disappointing thus far.
The second half is almost upon us. You wonder whether Wigan really BELIEVE they can get anything from this game. City have largely bossed the game, in spite of being at walking pace. They could blitz this, if they want.
Not the most scintillating of affairs, but steady. City have been rather comfy, without being all that. Dzeko's goal is the difference while, of course, Silva has been buzzy.
<b>Half-time: Wigan 0-1 Manchester City.</b>
- 45'
One minute of added time will be played.
- 44'
City do spring on a counter this time and Silva feeds Aguero. He drops a shoulder and fires at goal, but Al-Habsi is there with a low save to keep it at 1-0.
- 43'
Zabaleta has made a number of timely interceptions at right back this evening. Solid player.
- 42'
...comes to nothing, despite Rodallega lurking. City almost counter but Wigan get numbers back swiftly.
- 41'
Chance here for Wigan from a free-kick...
- 40'
Aw, Moses then over-does matters and a Wigan attack peters out. A waste, following my praise and all.
- 39'
Moses looks Wigan's best bet of anything positive in this match. He plays with a fearlessness, which I like.
- 38'
Pants cross from Clichy, just then. Meanwhile, shot of Kompany and, presumably, his other half. He's done well, let's just say.
- 37'
Tempo has decreased, in all honesty. Apologies.
- 36'
A stat from Infostrada: "David Silva provided the assist on that goal, his 11th of this PL season, four more than any other player."
- 35'
Nasri's struggled at City since his first few games at the club. He looks low on belief.
- 34'
Martinez looks pensive on the touchline. It's not been a bad display, just not a great one. Meanwhile, groans from the home fans. The small number of them, that is.
- 33'
Almost suicide from the Wigan defence but Silva wants far too much time and a body is thrown in his way to block the shot.
- 32'
Silva is on a different level to most. It's like the game is in slow-motion for him, like Max Payne.
- 31'
Half-hearted appeals for a penalty from City. Nasri flung in a cross and Dzeko rose but was blocked off a little by Alcaraz. Nothing doing from Martin Atkinson.
- 30'
Shot on target for Wigan as McArthur has a pop first time. Hart makes it look a little harder than it was and eventually claims.
- 29'
One of the worst crosses you will ever see. Stam tries to flick one in, but his effort zooms high and then higher.
- 28'
Having a McArthur and a McCarthy in the same midfield is not ideal for me.
- 27'
Well played Crusat as he scampers back to cut out Nasri's incisive pass.
- 26'
Wigan haven't won a home game in four months, apparently. Goodness.
- 25'
Game over, then?
- 24'
How was that for a commentator's curse then - see 22 minutes. Silva whips in a free-kick from the left and Dzeko rises to flex his neck muscles and divert the ball into the far corner. A fine header, and the Bosnian looks delighted.
- 23'
<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/goal.gif"> <b>GOAL!!!</b> Dzeko scores for City!
- 22'
It is worth noting that Al-Habsi has had no save to make thus far.
- 21'
Hugely ambitious pass from Milner, as the midfielder's first time effort balloons out of play.
- 20'
Very high studs and boot from McArthur there sees the midfielder penalised for a foul on Zabaleta.
- 19'
Mancini is an angry man after seeing City denied a corner.
- 18'
Torrid touch from Dzeko sees a move break down. The Bosnian is back playing how he was when he first joined City, not like at the beginning of this season when he was unstoppable.
- 17'
Handball claim from City. I need to see a replay, as in real time it was impossible to make a call.
- 16'
Aguero tracking back there. Fine work-rate from the Argentine.
- 15'
Just the 66% possession for City so far.
- 14'
McArthur breaks up play with a foul. A sensible foul as City were on the surge.
- 13'
Aguero looks in following a deflected strike from Silva, but the flag is up for offside. He was quite far off, and missed the chance regardless.
- 12'
Wigan then spring clear following hard work from Rodallega. Moses links up with his striking partner, but he is wasteful, blazing over.
- 11'
Silva has been terrific. Barry is fed by the Spaniard down the left and tries a cutback, but he fails to find a team-mate.
- 10'
The attendance figure is likely to be horrible.
- 9'
Corner to City following a really neat move. Nasri was involved. Corner comes in, but is deflected out for another. They play the second one short, and Savic is found. He nods, unmarked, but it is over.
- 8'
Someone does, however, have a drum. Meanwhile, it was Barry with the challenge that led to a penalty shout. Would have been massively soft. Not a pen.
- 7'
The DW Stadium is typically not full.
- 6'
Silva has already touched the ball about 100 times. While I type, Clichy sends in a cross and Dzeko is unmarked, but the angle is tough and his header drops wide.
- 5'
Silva just got tackled.
- 4'
What the hell! Crazy stuff. City struggle to clear following a cross from Crusat, meaning pandemonium in their box. There was a cry for a pen, then a shot just wide. Corner next, which is cleared. Madness.
- 3'
But the pressure is relieved, thanks to Moses, who powers forward but is hacked down. No card. Could've been.
- 2'
City on the front foot early on, in an advanced area. Wigan are indeed penned back. Already.
- 1'
<b>KICK-OFF:</b> Manchester City get the game started.
Oh, and Onuoha is on the bench. Remember him?
City play Spurs at the weekend, by the way.
'The teams are in the tunnel', as they say. Al-Habsi and Hart are all jokes and smiles. Pipe and slippers for the latter tonight, you'd imagine.
But they are not in crisis, Alan. Sure, they have lost their last two Cup games, but prior to that they walloped Liverpool 3-0. And a win tonight would take them back to three points clear of United.
Wigan could move out of the relegation if they win this game. But they won't win, will they? Nah. City, meanwhile, are in 'crisis', according to Alan Hansen.
