Juventus against Fulham

Hodgson will not be pleased with Fulham's defending tonight

Iaquinta has free header from the corner. Schwarzer saves. That was far too easy

Diego shoots from distance and Schwarzer is struggling. His curler from 25 yards left the Australian goalkeeper in trouble there. Juve corner

To Fulham's credit they are pressing in the last five minutes, but Konchesky hasn't galloped forward anywhere near as much as the first half

Fulham will struggle in the second leg with the suspended duo of Greening and Murphy. They will be a big loss to Fulham

Fulham seem resigned to this scoreline. It's not the end of the world if it finishes 3-1 but you've gotta say the odds will be stacked firmly against them

Marchisio finds himself with a sight of goal in the Fulham box but he can't quite get a shot in. He then sprints down the other end of the field to stop a Fulham counter attack. Excellent play.

And now Greening is out of the return leg. He picks up a yellow for a late tackle on Candreva. Candreva has made the most of that...

Despite the additional official standing right there...

It was good delivery by Greening but no one could make contact, the ball evetually found it's way to Zamora who was adjudged to be offside. Quite simply, he wasn't.

Zamora wins a corner for Fulham. A good delivery is needed for this one...

This will be something of a personal triumph for Juve boss Alberto Zaccheroni who was only on the winning side once in his previous encounters against Roy Hodgson in Serie A

Juve are playing little triangles in midfield as Fulham chase shadows. Everyone seems exhausted after the pulsating first half

Dempsey is battling away for Fulham but the ball just keeps on bouncing! Eventually Dempsey is dealt with by the Juve defence

Sissoko is on for Poulsen. Zaccheroni is looking to sure up his midfield with 15 minutes left

Duff's trickery on the edge of the box leaves Grosso reeling and his low cross to Zamora is defended well again by, yes, Cannavaro

The crys of "Juve Juve" continue to ring around the stadium as Iaquinta gets behind the Fulham defence but is miles offside

But Juve get it and break... Excellent attacking play by Iaquinta and Camoranesi, but the latter fires over

Fulham force a corner...

Legrottaglie is all over the back of Zamora and a free kick is awarded 40 yards out

A few more substitutes are warming up. The frenetic pace of the first hour seems to be catching up with some of them out there

But Dempsey fouls his man and Juve get a free kick. Dempsey seems to playing very high up the pitch, and Hodgson is clearly focused on getting that second away goal

The ball is cleared for a Fulham throw. The hosts are pinned back a bit here

Fulham win another free kick in a dangerous area. Juve's defenders are all at sea and Fulham force a corner

Legrottaglie is in the book. He's out of the second leg and Juve will be hoping Chiellini recovers in time

just as I say that they lose it and Juve break. But Iaquinta fouls Baird

Fulham are enjoying their first period of sustained possession here

Baird looks petrified every time he gets the ball. He is hurried into a back pass to Schwarzer

Dempsey beats Camoranesi in the air but the ball is off the American for a Juve throw

Free kick to Fulham. Hughes pumps it in but it comes to nothing. The game, after an hour, is finally slowing down a bit

Juventus subsitution: Trezeguet is off and Iaquinta is on

Dempsey will offer Fulham another goal threat. Great to see him back playing football.

This is a big moment for Clint Dempsey and Fulham. The American is coming on for Simon Davies and has half an hour to make a difference

Fulham break forward with Zamora and his cross is cut out

Diego comes deep for the ball and runs at the Fulham defence. He looked to be fouled by Etuhu but the ref didn't think so

Baird's searching ball down the line is knocked out of play by the covering Cannavaro, who looks as solid tonight as ever

Gera wastes a good opportunity for the visitors. His hopeful shot is tame and, frankly, terrible.

Greening is searching for Zamora but Juve snuff it out. This a very open game and although Juventus look like scoring, you wouldn't bet against Fulham grabbing another with Zamora continuing to be a handful.

The resulting corner finds the head of the goalscorer, Legrottaglie, but thankfully for Fulham it goes over

Camoranesi and Candreva are linking nicely and the former's cross is deflected out for a corner

Zamora and Poulsen are scrapping here and it results in a Juve free kick

Etuhu's ball finds Zamora, who's low cross is cut out

The gulf in class is pretty obvious here. Fulham will not fancy hauling back a 2 goal deficit at Craven Cottage.

Juventus's approach play was excellent again there. Diego lost it on the edge of the box but that was dangerous

That's poor from Fulham. Greening concedes possession in a dangerous area again as his pass is pathetically overhit, giving Konchesky no chance

Candreva is in attack then defence, and wins back the ball from Gera

Aaron Hughes gives Diego too much space there and his shot is wastefully high and wide. Signs there that Fulham have still not learned their lesson...

Zamora is guilty of fouling Cannavaro again. I'm sure those two will be at it for the next 45 minutes as well

Zamora sprints onto the end of an ambitious through ball. But he's offside anyway

Juve have brought on Camoranesi for Salihamidzic at half time. And his flick sets up a shot for Candreva straight away

See you in 15 minutes (well, 12 minutes) for the second half...

And that's the last action of a pulsating first half in Turin. The goal went in at least 30 seconds after the 2 minutes injury time allocated by the referee which is bound to upset Hodgson. A game that Fulham looked to have salvaged is back in Juventus's hands.

The rebound came to Trezeguet again and his shot finds it's way past Schwarzer. It may have taken a touch off Salihamidzic before it went in but it's 3-1 Juventus at half time

The corner has come in and dropped at the feet of Trezeguet who blasts his shot straight against the right hand post

GOAL TO JUVENTUS!

Juventus aren't done though. Grosso's shot forces a great save from Schwarzer

A half which Fulham have finished very strongly

Zamora picks up a knock and the 4th official indicates a further 2 minutes of the half

Zamora is the supplier this time and Gera's left foot shot is tame

Konchesky is getting forward a lot for Fulham and he sprints into the Juventus half yet again but his ball to Gera goes begging

Konchesky sweeps the ball into the box and it is headed clear. The second cross falls to Zamora who hits a sweet volley towards goal but it's straight at Manninger

After being totally overwhelmed, Fulham's goal out of nothing has balanced this game. Fulham have a free kick in the Juventus half

The resulting corner causes more chaos in the Juventus box, but is saved by Manninger and eventually cleared

Fulham are inches from equalising. Hangeland finds his way into the Juventus box and Manninger clambers across his goal to keep it out. Fulham are back in this

That goal has buoyed the visitors. Duff plays a one-two with Zamora and Duff's shot knocks Zebina out

Fulham have been thrown a real lifeline there and they'll be looking to keep things tight until the break.

A real stroke of luck for Fulham there. Davies's free kick bobbles through to Etuhu who mishits a shot from 12 yards out which deflects into the net past Manninger. Very undeserved, but just what the doctor ordered for Fulham

GOAL FOR FULHAM!

And Zamora has finally won a free kick for Fulham in a pretty dangerous position

Juve left back Grosso just failed to keep the ball in as he slid to hook in a cross.

Zamora is adjudged to have backed into Cannavaro and the Italian side win a free kick. There didn't didnt seem to much in that

Konchesky looks for Zamora's feet again but the striker is muscled out

Cannavaro was nearly caught out by Duff there but the Italian veteran recovers with a perfect tackle

Gera steals the ball off the toes of Trezeguet and looks to switch it to the right in search of Duff. But Fulham look scared to attack.

Schwarzer is happy to see the ball fly over

The visitors look shellshocked and need to quickly sort themselves out. Juventus look so confident in possession and now Marchisio fancies his chances from long distance.

Big, big problems for Fulham now.

It takes a fine strike to beat Mark Schwarzer from that distance and that's one of the best strikes you'll see

Thunderbolt from Zebina. Absolutely stunning strike from the right back. He skips past Davies and Etuhu far too easily and sends a brilliant shot from 25 yards in off the post

GOAL FOR JUVENTUS!

Trezeguet's getting in on the action now. Candreva robs possession from Fulham in midfield and Trezeguet's shot is just over

Gera fouls Salihamidzic this time. A niggle more than anything but the referee didn't like it.

Zamora is guilty of a foul as the ball goes forward

Duff is fouled from behind by Poulsen on the halfway line. Chance for Fulham to get forward here

Poulsen is Juventus's engine here tonight, he seems to be involved in everything they're doing

Juventus are knocking the ball around nicely. Diego and Poulsen were heavily involved there but the resulting shot by Candreva from outside the box was high and wide in the end

Fulham's first chance of the game, and it's a good one. Duff's pull back found Davies near the penalty box who mis-cued horrendously. That goes down as more than a half chance

Fulham are trying to get a hold of the ball but it's not being made easy for them. The booming crys of "Juve, Juve" from the crowd in the Stadio Olimpico seems to be overwhelming the visitors slightly

Diego is fouled by Etuhu. I don't think that's the last time I'll be saying that tonight.

Diego is at it again. He's teasing the Fulham defender and lays it out to Salihamidzic who's dangerous cross to the far post evades everyone and is out for a goal kick.

The marking by Fulham wasn't great and that's exactly what the home fans wanted

Trezeguet's header forces Schwarzer into a smart save leading to a corner taken by Diego. The corner finds the head of Legrottaglie who powers a downward header into the back of the net. This is an uphill struggle for Fulham already

GOAL FOR JUVENTUS!

Trezeguet's blind pass to Diego is cut out by Konchesky who gallops forward and overhits a pass to Zamora. Already it seems like Fulham are trying to get Zamora on the ball as often as possible

Greening looks to shield a bouncing ball from Diego but the Brazilian leaps into the back of Greening. Fulham free kick in their own half.

Fulham looking to settle with a period of possesion in midfield. Etuhu's pass is too long for Duff

Chris Baird looks to put a throughball into Bobby Zamora's path but it's overhit and goes out for a goal kick

Diego and Trezeguet are already causing problems in the Fulham penalty box but it's cleared by Hangeland

We're off, Juventus are in their usual black and white stripes, Fulham are playing in red and shooting to the left

Fulham (4-4-1-1): Schwarzer, Baird, Hughes, Hangeland, Konchesky, Davies, Etuhu, Greening, Duff, Gera, Zamora

Juventus (4-3-1-2): Manninger, Zebina, Legrottaglie, Cannavaro, Grosso, Poulsen, Candreva, Salihamidzic, Diego, Marchiso, Trezeguet

Fulham are pretty much as expected with Paul Konchesky coming in at left back for the cup-tied Nicky Shorey. Danny Murphy is suspended whilst Andy Johnson and John Pantsil are still out with knee injuries. Interestingly, Clint Dempsey is on the bench for the first time since sustaining his serious knee injury.

Juventus have a few key players missing tonight. Buffon, Chiellini and Amauri are all out but Claudio Marchisio has shrugged off an injury to line up in the starting XI

This is the first of a run of five massive games for Fulham, with Premier League games against Manchester United, Manchester City, an FA Cup replay with Spurs and the home leg against Juventus all to come.

So, Fulham manager Roy Hodgson admitted today that playing a team like Juventus was beyond his dreams when he took over 2 years ago. This is one of the most high profile fixtures in Fulham?s history and already their 46th game of the season.
