Ukraine against England

Three minutes added...

Rooney flashes a shot wide after good work from Carlton Cole. Nice break.

The England fans who have made the trip - around 2,000 of them - look utterly miserable.

If Ukraine win this tey'll go one point ahead of Croatia in second. Both have one game left but Ukraine face Andorra, who have lost all their games in the group.

England don't look like they've got the energy to push for a leveller. They've only really created one chance, through Lampard in the first half.

Carrick wastes good possession inside his half with a hopeful long piunt towards Cole. Time wasting in full effect now for the home side.

Cole is flagged again after barging into Rakitskiy. The defender dawdled in possession but Cole wasn't subtle enough in taking the ball off him.

Carlton Cole is penalised for a clash with Gai.

Will England chase this equaliser? Or are they knackered?

Superb save from David James as Yarmolenko was put clean through. James stood up tall and narrowed the angle before making a block with his legs.

Rotan gets a yellow card for diving in the presence of Ferdinand.

Milner's free kick was terrible then Johnson swung in an even worse cross after it was cleared. This will be a huge win for Ukraine if they can hold on. Croatia won't like it though.

Milner wins a free kick for England on the right. Big men forward for it.

Shevchenko gets through and hits one right at James but he was offside.

Tymoschuk is down holding his perfectly straigtened blond locks.

Tymoschuk fires a shot in from distance but James watches it go wide.

Lampard in nothing ball shock. Three now. Jeskey goes off and Carlton Cole comes on.

Very nearly an own goal! Johnson and Milner got in a muddle at the back post after Milevskiy's cross and the ball flicks narrowly past the post. More woeful defending.

Lampard busts one right into the wall, Johnson's follow up is pathetic, then Carrick chops down Gai.

Someone in the wall gets a yellow card for encroaching. Tymoschuk I think.

Rooney over it. The free kick is 18 yards out, just to the left of centre. Rooney and Lamps over it.

Carrick slices his shot horribly before Heskey goes down after an aerial challenge from Rakitskiy. Then Lamaprd wins a free kick on the edge of the box from Khacheridi, who gets a yellow.

Ukraine make a change, Yarmolenko comes on for Nazarenko.

Johnson angles in a ball for Heskey but he makes no effort to jump under pressure from Khacheridi.

Cole's ball forward sees Carrick amble after it. There isn't much in the way of want from England's players.

Rooney has a punt but drags it harmelssly wide.

Rooney slides Lampard in but he fails to get his shot off in time. A good chance goes begging. They won't get many either.

Carrick takes over nothing ball duties this time. Lampard must be tired.

Another nothing ball from Lampard. I'll keep a count from now on. That's two.

Rooney tries a flick to get round Tymoschuk but the Bayern Munich midfielder grabs the ball at the second attempt.

Lampard hits a nothing ball through for Heskey. Who does he think he is? Usain Bolt?

Cracking ball into the area from Milner after a great crossfield pass from Rooney. The move ends with Rooney trying to curl one but his effort lacks power.

James makes a flying save from Rakitskiy after he busted one from 30 yards. He got a strong right hand up to it and prevented a certain goal. Fabulous stop.

Heskey flicks on but Rooney can't get there. Decent start by England in this half after their dressing down from Capello.

Looks like Rooney and Milner will provide support to Heskey. Maybe Fabio is rueing bringing Lennon off when Green was sent off.

We think Gerrard has gone off. Still no word from our dodgy feed though. The producer is probably trying to contact the FA's head of press to confirm it.

James Milner is on but we've no idea who has gone off. Neither has our internet provider apparently.

Johnson breaks early down the right but again he hits his cross into the arms of Pyatov.

Right, we're back after more totally inane comments from Sven Goran Eriksson. Can England rescue the game?

Half-time and a shabby performance from England. They are a man down and a goal down, and will be lucky to escape with their unbeaten record in tact, let alone their winning run.

Kobin gets a yellow card after a late tackle on Gerrard.

Lamaprd bursts through and tries to get his cross in and though the ball hits Nazarenko on the arm it matters not because it had gone out before the Chelsea man got to it.

Nazarenko is allowed to stroll towards the penalty area and have a shot but this time is dribbles wide. England have been very poor at the back.

Heskey closes down Shevchenko but only Gerrard is near the half way line when Terry pumps it forward.

Capello looks cheesed off, and well he might. England have been pretty awful so far. A half-time rocket is definitely in order.

Lovely link up between Johnaon and Rooney gets the full back in down the right but his low cross is gathered by Pyatov.

Nazarenko swings in a Ukraine corner and Gai has a free header at the back post that he can't direct on target.

Shevchenko drags a shot wide of the target after a nice long ball from Milevskiy. His left foot has never been the best.

Heskey looks to be carrying a knock. Surely we won't see Carlton Cole before half time, though. That'd finish us all off.

Good move down the right involving Rooney and Johnson. The full back gets to the byline and crosses but Lampard can't connect with it.

Cole goes down and buys a free kick off Nazarenko. He looks slovenly in possession whenever he gets it.

Milevsliy hits the upright! A sublime half-volley beats James all ends up but cannons back off the post!

Our feed broke off for a second and as it returned Lampard pushes a snapshot inches wide of the post. A lovely ball from Rooney slipped him in.

Ukraine have their goal and have no need to pile forward here now.

Well, England display yet more ineptitude at the back and this time they are made to pay. Cole has had an absolute nightmare there. I can't hear them but I presume the away fans are now booing him.

Ashley Cole gives the ball away needlessly, it breaks to Nazarenko who pops one and a deflection off Cole takes it past James.

GOAL! Nazarenko!

Heskey's flick on finds Rooney but he can't get past Khacheridi. I wonder why Capello didn't take Heskey off rather than Lennon? Keep his midfield in tact, and retain his quicket player for counter attacking purposes?

Johnson and Gai disagree over a throw in. Ukraine get it. The linesman obviously doesn't want a flare in his face.

Shevchenko crosses this time and Ferdinand clears. The Man Utd defender is in rotten form isn't he? It was his error that led to the penalty fiasco.

Kobin launches in a cross but Stevie G is there to clear again.

England lying deep now when they haven't got the ball. Nazarenko tries his luck from range but it hits Terry and England regroup.

Gerrard takes the corner but Pyatov is out to claim. No breaks in our internet feed so far I am pleased to report.

Odds against England making it nine wins out of nine then eh? Gerrard wins a corner for them though.

A very different prospect for England now then, down to ten men. They'll have to soak up plenty of pressure in the next 70 minutes you feel.

What a terrible penalty that was. He wasn't helped by a near five minute delay after the award but that's pathetic. The crowd are stunned, and immediately launch another flare on the field.

Shevchenko misses! He hits the post and it goes wide! Hilarious!

Right then, let's have this pen.

Green can have no complaints, he denied a clear goalscoring opportunity and has been dismissed. An uphill task for England now, with a penalty to come. Here comes David James, for Lennon.

Ukraine penalty! Rio Ferdinand watched the ball drop over his shoulder, Milevskiy went through, drew the keeper and was felled. Green is off too!

Superb tackle by John Terry as Ukraine looked to break, he tackled Gai then beat a man and swung a cross to the back post for Rooney who narrowly missed connecting with a volley.

Khacheridi fires a long ball looking for Milevskiy but he can't keep it in.

Heskey wins his header from the corner but he was off balance and it goes over the bar.

Tymoschuk chops down a flying Lennon. England free kick. Taken short and Johnson gets round the back before Rakitskiy clears behind.

Rotan swings the ball in but Terry heads clear.

Kobin wins a free kick from Terry, who was a little too eager to get in front and nick the ball.

Lennon and Heskey close down Kobin on the right flank. A low key opening it is fair to say.

Lampard swings in a free kick but Pyatov is out to claim.

Shevchenko turns and wrong-foots three players as the office goes "oooh," then he reminds us all of his fading star by hammering a cross-cum-shot into the stand from 45 yards.

Fabio looks nonplussed by the delay. Rob Green doesn't mind, given that he's protecting the goal the rowdy fans are situated behind.

The first interruption is not for the pictures, it's for the fact that there are two burning flares on the pitch. I smell a FIFA fine...

Right, pictures re-established and we are off!

At last, live pictures arrive but then quickly disappear as my feed drops out. Oh joy, what a fun afternoon in store. Don't worry, there are some tele's in the office that are receiving pictures.

This is very much a voyage of discovery for all of us tonight so please bear with us through the drop-outs, the interference and the excessive time delays. Of course, it may run like clockwork alos. We live in hope.

The stream has just started and though we can see our presenter and Sven Goran Eriksson (who else?) the sound is terrible. It's as if they are broadcasting from a rabbit hutch.

Ukraine: Pyatov, Kucher, Kobin, Rakitskiy, Khacheridi, Gai, Tymoschuk, Nazarenko, Rotan, Shevchenko and Milevskiy. Subs: Shovkovskiy, Yarmolenko, Gusev, Voronin, Seleznyov, Shevchuk and Mykhalyk.

So, Michael Carrick gets the nod ahead of Gareth Barry. It's Carrick's first competitive start since the game against Croatia in October 2006. Rob Green keeps his place despite a fit again David James lurking dangerously close to him.

England's team is already out, so here it is: Green, Johnson, A Cole, Gerrard, Ferdinand, Terry, Lennon, Lampard, Carrick, Heskey and Rooney. Subs: James, Bridge, Upson, Barry, Milner, C Cole and Agbonlahor.

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to live coverage of Ukraine v England, via a vaguely dodgy web feed. It's the first time an England game has been shown only on the internet, so lets hope the connection is strong out of the Eastern bloc.

Join us at 17.15 UK as England look to continue their 100% qualifictaion record in Ukraine.
