Borussia Dortmund against Manchester City

Dzeko's dipping strike from outside the box forces Weidenfeller to parry round the post - it looked to be going in. Finally some action!

Reus breaks dangerously into the City penalty area but a defender nips in and passes the ball back to Hart who puts his boot through it.

While we are struggling for goals at the Westfalenstadion, it is now 2-0 to Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and Ajax are in trouble.

Dortmund creat a chance from a cross and it falls to stand in striker Schieber but he can't get any power on his header and Hart scrambles his body to the ball.

Finally Nasri produces some class - he feeds Nasri down the left allowing the striker to square along the goal line, but Schmelzer beats Tevez to the ball and clears the danger.

Dortmund's passing game is going strong - about 20 and counting - and eventually they force a throw next to the byline before being flagged for offside.

Dortmund have looked comfortable in possession, and fully capable of keeping City at bay so far - but the hosts' attacking threat isn't posing any danger either.

Nasri has been poor for City - his passes sloppy and wasteful, his demeanour of a player distracted.

Dortmund's backline is easily handling City's threat - when City are not running into offside positions!

Nasri optimistically plays through Tevez but the ball is too heavy and Schmelzer easily cuts out the danger.

City are knocking the ball around the pitch in search of space to attack, Sinclair is found on the left wing but immediately flanked by two defenders and tackled.

Good news for City is that Real Madrid lead through Ronaldo against Ajax. City still need to pull their own win off though.

Joe Hart becomes the first goalkeeper to see some action when a tame Dortmund shot from the edge of the box is gathered up with ease.

A defensive mistake allows City possession in the Dortmund half but Tevez is offside when the ball comes to him. Sloppy from Dortmund, sloppy from Tevez.

Dzeko is played through by Nasri in what looks like the first chance but the Bosnian striker is flagged offside.

No proper chances created by either side so far, both goalkeepers are marginal figures as the teams jostle for supremacy around the park.

City's hopes of keeping Dortmund penned back doesn't have the effect they might have hoped for. The Germans are so assured in possession they merely bide their time and pass the ball out from the back.

City, when they are allowed possession, are not given much time on the ball and are forced to play a high-tempo game by Dortmund who are trying to force a mistake.

The pendulum has swung and now Dortmund are in the ascendance, displaying their penchant for quick passing and movement around the edge of the City penalty area.

City start on top keeping Dortmund penned back in their own half. Promising stuff.

City kick us off and we are underway to a wall of noise.

Worth noting that Nastasic starts at left back for City and Scott Sinclair on the left wing. Could that be a weak side for Dortmund to exploit?

During his time at Wolfsburg, Dzeko scored four in seven against Dortmund. Will the Bosnian be on target tonight?

The teams are out in front of a packed and atmospheric Westfalenstadion.

Don't forget what is resting on this game. Dortmund are through, they have nothing riding on it. City however need to beat Ajax's result at Real Madrid in order to qualify for the Europa League.

There is no Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze for Dortmund tonight. Joe Hart will be thankful for that although Julian Schieber who comes in up front for the Germans is a bit of an unknown quantity.
